On 18 November 2019, the International Conference was held on "Arbitration and Mediation in Azerbaijan and Region", which was organized by "Hogan Lovells", an international law firm and "BHM Law Firm", one of the largest law firms in Azerbaijan and with support of International Chamber of Commerce and Russian CIS Arbitration Network. International experts, staff of law firms, corporate lawyers and attorneys participated at the conference.

In their opening speeches, Mehman Sultanov, managing partner at "BHM Law Firm" and David Dunn, partner at "Hogan Lovells" mentioned the current importance and topicality of development of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

The conference proceeded with the sessions on the topics of arbitration and mediation. During the arbitration session moderated by Gulnar Gurbanova, partner at "BHM Law Firm", Giorgi Batlidze from Georgia, Anna Grishchenkova from Russia and, Turghay Huseynov from Azerbaijan presented on legal framework and practical situation of arbitration in the respective countries.

In the session moderated by Karl Pörnbacher, partner at "Hogan Lovells", Sophie Tkemaladze from Georgia, Lilia Klochenko from Russia, Alexander Korobeinikev from Kazakhstan, and Ruslan Mirzayev from Azerbaijan, delivered presentations and shared their own theoretical and practical knowledge on mediation with attendees of conference.
